An exploration in the clay life.
Resident artist, instructor, and owner of Gailanna Pottery, Carrie Wiederhold loves what she does!
Carrie is a native to southeast Michigan; growing up Utica/Shelby, located in the northern suburbs of Detroit. After returning home from college, Western Michigan University, she moved to the Nashville area where she lived for 10 years. This is where she began her love of creating with clay. She understudied at a pottery studio in the Nashville area where she not only learned to create with clay but she also learned what it took to run a community space for clay enthusiasts. Carrie has been throwing pottery on the wheel and hand-building pieces since 2005.
It is important to Carrie to remain active in the pottery community. She has published articles in Ceramics Monthly and is a member of the Michigan Ceramic Arts Association (MCAA). Carrie and the studio were featured in the Macomb Now! Winter 2019 magazine. You can find her work at her gallery and at The Bizzy Buzz Artisan Market in Rochester Hills, MI. She is an artist with the Annual Potters Market as well as other juried art shows in SE Michigan (Lexington Art Fair, Shelby Township Art Fair, Art on the Lake, Orchard Lake Fine Art Show, to name a few)
Carrie has been in business since 2015, operating Gailanna Pottery, named after her children. Carrie creates her own pieces, creates custom pieces for individuals and companies, and hosts events at various local markets. She lives in and is active in her local community with her family.
